WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CROWNS AVAILABLE?

METAL: Metal crown is made up of non-noble metals which are highly resistant to
corrosion. These crowns do not chip off. Their longevity is higher as compared to other
crowns. They can also withstand chewing forces. The only disadvantage with the metal
crown is its unpleasing colour.

PFM / PORCELAIN-FUSED TO METAL: This crown has a metal structure inside
connected to tooth coloured porcelain outside. It is highly durable in nature. Some
disadvantages are that it is not usually advisable for front teeth with gum recession
because of the presence of metal which may give darker hue.

ALL CERAMIC: These crowns cannot be distinguished from the natural teeth and are
most aesthetically pleasing. The crown is made of a porcelain-based material. It has
relatively high-pressure strength than any other crown.

WILL THERE BE ANY TROUBLE WHILE EATING AFTER CROWN PLACEMENT?

No, there will not be any trouble while eating after crown placement, rather it will be easier
and more comfortable to chew with the crown as it increases your ability to chew.

WILL THERE BE ANY IMPACT ON SPEECH AFTER CROWN PLACEMENT?

NO, there will not be any trouble in speaking.

WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE FOR CROWN PLACEMENT AND HOW MUCH TIME DOES IT TAKE TO GET THE CRWON?

It takes two appointments for crown placement. In the 1 st appointment will tooth preparation
is done and the impression is taken.
In the 2 nd appointment, the dentist will examine if there is any crown adjustment required,
extra appointments might be required to ensure proper fit.

HOW LONG AFTER CROWN PLACEMENT CAN I EAT?

After the crown placement it is advised to avoid sticky and hard food items for the first 24
hrs.  Do not drinking water or have food for the first hour after the crown is placed.
